ISO - Swanky spot - Downtown

  • 7

Important client dinner downtown. Need to impress with ambiance and food. Cannot be Pac Dining Car. All other recommendations welcomed - walking distance from city national bank plaza a BIG plus. thanks in advance.

  1. Water Grill fits the bill.

If not seafood, perhaps either Cafe Pinot or a bit further south, Zucca.

    1. cicada should work out pretty well. i went there a few years back for their prixe fix valentine's day dinner and the food and service were fantastic.

Cicada is absolutely beautiful inside. It's the former habedashery of James Oviatt who is one of the first to bring the Art Deco influence to Los Angeles architecture. I thought the food was good, if not spectacular, but it's worth it just to be inside this beautiful space. You can see pics below:

        Thanks,

      2. Is that where that wonderful restaurant, Il Rex, used to be? What memories! Mauro Vincenzo, I believe, owned it.

My grandfather used to have his art studio in that building.

        1. Patina at Disney Hall or Noe in the Omni are also worth consideration.

I've had the tasting menu at noe, and it was so-so. interesting flavors, but not necessarily harmonious.

patina, on the other hand, has got to be the best food spot in l.a. the best lamb dish i've ever had... no gaminess whatsoever..

There's also Nick & Stef's for great steak.

If you want something hip, asia de cuba is very cool.
