RW - Tresca

I had a restaurant week dinner last night at Tresca in the North End. Overall, the dinner was just OK. There were two choices for each course that included an appetizer, pasta, and entree. We both chose a salad for our appetizer. It was a good mix of greens with red and yellow sweet cherry tomatoes. For our pasta course, I had a rigatoni with roasted eggplant and ricotta salata cheese. It was OK, but was mostly just pasta and sauce with two or three pieces of eggplant. My friend had a pasta with homemade sausage and broccoli rabe and liked hers better. The entree choices were salmon and chicken and we both chose the chicken. The chicken was a leg or thigh piece over spinach and polenta. The polenta was good but the spinach was overwhelmingly garlicky. Too garlicky to eat. The chicken was just OK. Overall, the best part of the dinner was our table which was right on Hanover street. Not sure if I would go back.

  1. My theory is that you can never have too much garlic, so I am sure that I would love the dish. To each his own.

    1. My theory is that RW is not the best time to try what a restaurant really has to offer I have eaten at Tresca on a number of occasions and always been happy with the food. The bar menu is particularly yummy. I could eat the lamb and the veal meatballs every day.
