Good News about Saigon Harbor Seafood in Richmond

For the first time I've seen some remodelling activity at this favorite restaurant of so many chowhounds.....the sign has been up for many weeks but there was never any activity. But now they're at work - looking forward to a new space but the same reliable food.

  1. While they're at it, let us hope they fix their acoustics problem.

I don't know if they even know that they have an accoustic problem. For many Chinese restaurants a lot of noise equals prosperaty. A quiet Chinese restaurant equals one with no business.

Apparently they do know they have an acoustic problem, though. At least, people I know have talked to the management about it, and they acknowledged that the noise levels were excessive and that they were trying to do something about it. There's a difference between a cheerful bustle and a roaring din, and Saigon Seafood Harbor was the latter.

I once went there for lunch with a friend who lives just down the street from them. She was so put out by the noise that she said she wasn't going to return.
