Beautiful "Cocktails".....Carmel-by-the Sea.......(w/PHOTO)

My 'spousal unit' made these beautiful "cocktails" last night, naming them after our favorite vacation spot...Carmel-by-the-Sea. (The foam resulting from shaking had unfortunately dissapated by the time I shot this photo.)

Carmel-by-the-Sea "Cocktails"

I learned you cannot call this drink (or any drink straying from tradition) a "martini" on this board, without suffering ridicule. So, on this board I will call this drink a "cocktail" (at home I call it a "martini").

  1. What goes into it? I'd imagine some blue curaçao, at the very least.

Here is what I was told is in it:

      1 1/2 to 2 ounces vodka
      1 ounce blue curaçao
+- 2 ounces lemonade (TJs is perfect for this)
1 splash of Rose's Lime Juice

      It tastes very good :)

    2. Switch to fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice and simple syrup and I'll bet it'll be even better.
You'll have to play with the ratio.... a little egg white mixed with the juice will help create a better foam.

I do that when I have company. For a quick "just home from work" martini I use TJs lemonade, etc... (TJs lemonade also makes a quick & surprisingly good lemon drop.)
