Dinner at Da Silvano

My husband and I are going to Da Silvano tonight with another couple. Any recommendations?

I agree with everyone above. Go to Lupa around the corner...Thompson St. So MUCH better!! This place is just a place to "be seen". The food is mediocre. (and that's giving it a lot) Very, Very pricey, too! Lupa BLOWS this place away!

I would recommend you change your plans if possible. Da Silvano has mastered the art of blending poor and pretentious service, with mediocre food in an cramped and loud setting AND getting people to pay a lot of money for the poor experience. Maybe things have changed in the last few months but I doubt it.

I've been there at least a dozen times.
Don't go for the food. Go to see and be seen.
I always order the tripe and a good bottle of wine, which they have plenty of on hand.
It's a real nice dining experience that will cost you dearly and might leave you hungry.

Place gets a lot of hype which is not justified by the food. I have eaten there a couple of times and have not been impressed by anything. In addition, if I remember correctly, they print on their menu that they will not give you grated cheese on your pasta. I found this sort of pretentious and obnoxious.
