I've only eaten there once, but loved it. For real. I had the bruschetta of house-cured sardines with avocado. What a brilliant California adaptation. And it was not only delicious, it was a big, friendly portion. I also had the seared ahi--only because I'd eaten lamb two meals in a row prior, and the obvious thing to get at Tartine was a North African lamb stew. I'm a little over seared ahi in restaurants, but Tartine's was marvelous, with white beans. I'd gladly order it again.
