Good Pho in Glendale?

  • 7

My co-workers and I are looking for good authentic pho in Glendale for lunch, does anyone have any recommendations?

  1. There is, unfortunately, no pho of any kind (authentic or not) in Glendale. There's Gingergrass in Silver Lake, which is kind of an American take on Vietnamese food, and Pho 999 in North Hollywood, which is about as authentic as it gets in the Valley.

I don't recall whether Asia Noodle Cafe in the Glendale Galleria serves pho or not. Maybe another Hound can confirm. Also there was a place a couple of years ago that served pho called Noodle Town over on Central, but it's been replaced by a Korean style Chinese restaurant. Your best bet might be Blue Hen in Eagle Rock. See Jonathan Gold's review.

They serve what they call Vietnamese noodle soup, but it's actually hu tieu -- and not very good hu tieu.

Yeah, I think it is the only place. I used to work in the Glendale Galleria Office Towers and went there often. It was one of my first tastes of "pho", so it has a place in my heart. Also the ladies who work there still remember my order when I stop by (rarely now in the last 3 years). I like getting mint with it - like they serve it. Now my fave is Pho 79 in Alhambra.

    2. There's a Thai restaurant on Colorado in Eagle Rock (next door to Glendale) called Panang that serves pho, I believe. I've never tried it though, so can't say if it's good or not. And Blue Hen also on Colorado in Eagle Rock has chicken pho.

      1. Glendale is close enough to chinatown that you can find some good pho there. Try Pho Hoa...I believe its on Spring St.

        1. Haven't been there yet, but there is also Indochine on Glendale Blvd. in Atwater Village, and there's another Vietnamese place of some kind opening soon (or just opened?) on the south side of Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock.
