Tip Question: You order at the counter but they bring you the food

Xericx Aug 15, 2006 05:30 AM

And they have a tip jar at the front.......then one of the other employees bring you the food?

Happened to me at breakfast.....I left some money in the tip jar (buck + change) for a breakfast......ate my food....left the dishes on the table....felt weird not leaving another tip on the table.

thoughts?

One tip is plenty. For the most part, when there are tip jars, tips are really tips in that situation, the staff will split it evenly. Not like servers getting the $2 an hour and relying on tips. If it would make you feel better, wait and leave the tip on the table and sometimes I even clean my own table.

I never thought about it, but I never leave tips in the jar. I always wait to leave a tip at the table. Just habit. There are probably a lot of cashiers out there who hate me.
