Had a first meal at Sauce on Gough this evening. Started the meal with the spinach brule. It came with foccacia crostini (good on their own!)There was a lot of cheese and a crunchy topping, but there was not a lot of spinach flavor. However, we cleaned the plate. Two of us had the tomato soup with cheese sandwiches and one of us had the mushroom soup. Both were the standouts of the meal. The soups were rich and creamy and extremely flavorful. For entrees my husband had the halibut cheeks, which were cooked to his liking (rare) and tasty. I had the vegetarian strudel. Tasty. My mom had the roasted chicken mac n cheese. It was rich and very tasty. Finally we ended with the dessert sampler. Wow. It had strawberries and cream with brown sugar, simple and tasty, the PB&J which was unusual but very good, the ice cream smash, yummy, brownies and ice cream and chocolate, and finally the sugared donuts with bourbon vanilla sauce, warm and puffy.
Overall it was a good experience. The service was attentive and the one problem we had was corrected immediately. The room was cozy, but got a little loud thanks to a group near us. Good food and a pleasant meal.
