Carversville Inn (Carversville, PA)
After a bad experience at the Stockton Inn in New Jersey (25 empty tables outside and they claimed they were fully booked!!!) we took a detour, and passed by the Carversville Inn.
We wound up having a really excellent dinner, in a nice relaxed setting. (However, if you're going to sit on the front porch tables, it would help to have a map and be able to give directions to the dozens of "lost" folks who pass by).
Our meal featured abolutely fresh quality ingredients artfully prepared and presented.
We started with a baked brie in pastry, with a fresh blueberry compote, as well as a salad of endive, watercress, apple, with crumbled bleu cheese.
For main courses, I had a roasted breast of duck, with a fruit sauce, which came with a small portion of scalloped potatos and a mixed vegetable medley. My companion had a daily special of soft shell crabs, featuring 3 tender crabs pan-fried with a Ponchartrain butter, served with wild rice and the vegetable medley.
We both splurged and had dessert, a de-rigueur "warm/fallen/molten chocolate cake", and a fresh peach-blackberry crumble/crisp/cobbler.
Both were excellent, served with fresh fruit and a scoop of homemade cinnamon ice cream.
The service was polished and professional, and with the exception of having to give directions to at least 7 drivers, our meal was nice and quiet and relaxed. I suggested they put a waiter outside on the road with amuse-bouches and maps for the people following the Route 32 detour.
PS: our waitress told us the chef is trained (or comes from) New Orleans area, and several dishes on the menu feature a definite "southern" or Creole/Cajun influence, which would probably be excellent choices.
