Would you reccommend Lupa or Crispo for a 35th birthday dinner -- 3 girls celebrating?

  1. Wow, what a choice. I love the food at Lupa, and would probably go there if you could get a reservation. Crispo might be easier to get a reservation and has a great atmosphere for a celebration. You really can't go wrong with either. You might not feel as rushed at Crispo.

    1. thanks...we went with crispo! any recommendations?

      1. Their spaghetti carbonara is out of this world. Poached egg on top, mmmmmm.....

        1. oh yumm! do they do half orders of pasta? or can you split the pasta? i know at lupa when we tell them we will be splitting it, they plate it for us.

          1. I have been a regular ar Crispo for some time but always end up ordering the same few things. Some can't miss items include the risotto balls, any of the prosciutto appetizers, the insalate of octopus and potato is a favorite of my wife and any of the cheeses, especially their pecorino, are outstanding. As already mentioned, their spaghetti carbonara is amazing as is their orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage. I am not sure if you can do half orders, we usually order for the table and share items. Don't miss the zeppoles for dessert. Their specials can be erratic, ranging from great to pedestrian. Stick with the pastas.

            1. I went to Lupa for my birthday, but we got seated in the back room- which sucks! Make sure you get seated in the front, and you'll have a blast.

yes, i've been back there. it's tight. the food is so well worth it though...
i have not been to crispo so i wanted to see what people thought when given the choice between the two.
our reservation is for crispo--the garden!

              2. We always get the bone marrow appetizer--huge bones split lengthwise, scoop out the marrow and spread on toast or bread, with caramelized onions and raisins...super fun to order because it comes out looking like something from the Flintstones.
I love Crispo but I have had fish there that was on the dry side...you can't go wrong with the pastas.
Glad you will be in the garden, it's really nice (also cozy in the winter when they roof it over and light the fireplace).
