fresh blueberries

I was at an orchard this weekend & picked a variety of fruit. How do I store the blueberries so that they will stay fresh & last? I want to make my blueberry pie later this week & I would rather not freeze them. thanks

It might be a good idea to sort them by ripeness and put any that are nearing mushiness in a separate bowl. Or just eat them as you go. Those probably are the most likely to succumb to molds.

Store them in the fridge unwashed in a glass jar.

The berries I just ate lasted two weeks and were as crisp and fresh as the day I bought them at the farmers market. They could have gone ALOT longer.

I would make sure you do remove any moldy or squished berries before putting in the jar.

i picked fresh blueberries a week ago friday and finished the last 6 cups of them which were stored in the fridge in the CI Blueberry pie exactly a week later (last friday). They were still pristene. Don't do anything (ie wash) to them until you need to used them. They should be fine. I do believe my berries would have lasted a couple more days.

Fresh blueberries should store well in the fridge for a few days. Just be sure there's no moisture accumulating around them, don't store in a plastic bag or airtight container.

I know you don't want to freeze them, but they freeze exceptionally well compared to most berries.
