Recommendations near the Viper Room (West Hollywood)

I'm going to a show at the Viper Room in a few weeks, and am looking for restaurant recommendations near there - in West Hollywood (at West Sunset and Holloway). Within a 15-minute drive would be good.

Looking for something moderate to slightly expensive, modern, reasonably quiet and comfortable. Seeing an old friend so we'll want to yak - we both like sushi and the usual contintental/fusion stuff. Excellent martinis would be a bonus.

The newly opened Empress at 8264 Sunset next to the Body Shop in the former Sushi on Sunset space. Nice environs, great view and good food, so I have heard. Just catching on, so might still be fairly quiet.

Blowfish is good Sushi, very pretty and hip. Sunset and Doheny three minutes from Holloway and Sunset.

Jinpachi on Santa Monica 1 block east of Hancock. Great food and atmosphere, have dessert omakase.

You are in luck: choices abound that fit your needs.

Madeo is an excellent upscale Italian with an excellent bar. Ask for a quiet table, as it can get a bit load in certain parts of the restarant, but generally only on weekends. Otherwise it is fairly sedate and delicious.

Lucques is within your 15 minute range, quiet, has an awesome bar and is one of LA's best restaurants.
