Where to go during Restaurant Week - restaurants who are not participating?

Tony Baloney Aug 11, 2006 01:27 PM

I have some time off this coming week and would like to try some of the newer places in Boston for dinner. So far, no luck getting reservations at places like Domani or Great Bay.

Can anybody recommend newer places that are not participating in restaurant week?

La Galleria 33 on Salem Street in the North End. I've absolutely fallen in love with this place. Incredible gnocchi and grilled meats (including a spectacular veal chop).

West on Centre is in my neighborhood, West Roxbury & has been great everytime we've gone.
Another in this area is Vintage, very good, excellent wine list

How are the portions at West? I am considering them for dinner this week. Thanks

Does La Galleria have a website?

They've purchased a URL- www.lagalleria33.com - but the site's under construction. The place is only two or three weeks old. Like I said though, the food has really impressed me.

Lucky House Seafood, New Shanghai are fairly new places in Chinatown that don't do restaurant week. Also Zoe's in Brookline.
