I need to find a good pie place here in the city, of the fruit variety. any suggestions?

Ditto for Pies Plus.

You could also try Simple Simon Pies. They operate out of the Calgary Farmer's Market and Crossroad's Market or you can order online: www.simplesimonpies.com/about_summary.... Only caveat is that their dessert pies are an individual size.

My favorite (store-bought) pies in the City are by far at Pies Plus. 2 locations - Avenida Centre (Macleod Trail and Lake Fraser Drive) and also in Bragg Creek. Love the Strawberry Rhubarb, Peach, Apple, Coconut Cream and Chocolate French Silk.

thanks for the info. Too bad I live on the other side of the city. If I ever head down that way, I will certainly try it. I just can't face making my own dough in this weather.

I'm also interested in finding good pie here in Calgary. I've tried all night diners like the Blackfoot Diner, Gerry's, and Perkins. They're not bad for 2 in the morning, but still lacking. The Wheatland Cafe in Kensington (and now also Bridgeland) bake pies on site, but they limit it to whatever flavour the chef feels like that morning, so selection is usually a problem.

I think you're right. Heartland Cafe is correct, at least for Bridgeland, which I drove past this weekend. Sorry about that.
