Awesome Guac and Chips @ Maya

If you have a hankering for some TASTY guacamole and chips, try Maya on 2nd near Folsom in SF. One of the best restaurant renditions I've had in a long time. Nice big chunks of avocado with a good garlic kick. The tortilla chips were warm, fresh, and crispy. Their happy hour is from 5-7pm where you're treated to a creamy black bean dip and some fried appetizers.

Can't say much else about the rest of the food though. The entrees our table ordered (Chicken Mole, Pechuga Adobada, and Carnitas Maya) were only average at best.

  1. Man, that sounds sosososo good right now. YUM.

    1. Try Colibri's if you haven't already. Just as good or better than Maya's.

      1. I still say the best restaurant guac I have had in recent memory is Cafe Gratitude. They sell it in tubs to take home too (at least the Mission location does).

        1. Maya's guac is truly good--and their tacos, served only from 11:30 to 2:00 on weekdays (in the bar area), are the best in the area.

          1. Garlic!?!?!

When the avocados are good, guacamole should contain nothing else but lime juice and salt.
