BLT Prime-Review

  • 0

I had a chance to have dinner last weekend at BLT Prime. I have not had a chance to post the review until now. I love steakhouses, the Strip House is my current favorite, so I was eager to try BLT Prime.
It is in a nice modern looking space but I had two non-food related complaints. The acoustics in the place are bad. Even though the place was not full, you could hear every conversation at every table. The second complaint, a very minor and personal one, is that I thought the big open refrigerator seemed in an odd spot. I always thought it was a little tacky to show off the meat, it reminds me of Mortons. As far as the food, the popovers were fantastic and they bring out a variety of free starters. We started with a simple tomato and mozzarella appetizer, which was okay and the double cut bacon. The bacon was very good with a delicious smokey flavor. My wife ordered the Kobe Rib Eye and I ordered the filet mignon. The Kobe, my wifes first, was extremely flavorful and a decent size. My filet, however, seemed to lack any flavor. It was served with garlic butter on top, and it reminded me of something from Ruth Chriss. It was just average. For sides, BLT Prime really shines. The hen of the woods mushrooms were good and the blue cheese tator tots, while not as good as I had hoped, were good. The parmesan gnocchi was terrific. For dessert we ordered the chocolate tart with pistachio ice cream, very good, and my wife ordered some sorbet. They also brought out some outstanding cookies. The service is very good and attentive, atmosphere is nice, the popovers are amazing and a nice selection of sides. Unfortuantely, there was nothing on the food side that would make we want to rush back, especially with so many other choices. It is also very expensive, over $220.00, which included 2 glasses of house wine and some soft drinks.
