To be accurate, Alto's chef, Scott Conant, is still in charge of the kitchen at L'Impero. Also, Alto is much more expensive. All the menus are prix-fixes, with the least expensive being 3 courses for $65. Thus, depending on what one drinks, the cost could be near $100pp.
Hearth is doable for $65-70pp (again, depending on what one drinks). I do think the ambiance at L'Impero is way nicer. But Hearth is pleasant, the food's excellent, and service is first rate.

We recently had a wonderful dinner at Pampano. Definitely not some average taco joint, this fish-oriented Mexican restaurant has very creative, delicious cuisine; friendly, efficient service; and very nice ambiance. Prices would fit the budget.
