  1. There's not much new or different, except that Divine Pasta is expanding as Cube with a cheese bar and cafe.
Other stops in the area, most longtime spots, are The Pig -- ok barbecue; Maison et Cafe -- pretty good Frenchy lunch food; Puran's -- other people like it, I don't; and the Italian place that used to be Farfalla -- not too exciting, I think.
If you can expand your parameters just a teensy bit, my favorite stops along that route would be M Cafe de Chaya on Melrose at La Brea and Sake House Miro at 8th and Wilshire. Also Azami Sushi on Melrose gets good reviews on the board.

    1. If you go the other way on La Brea towards Pico just a few doors down from 8th is the Sake House. My new absolute favorite Sushi place. Exposed bricks walls and old japanese posters give this place a unique feel. Like you were in a neighborhood joing in Hong Kong. It's not the usual slightly sterile decor of most sushi places. And the food is great and well priced. Very friendly staff and yes, they really know their Sake.
