A wine-geek friend brought over this Lodi version of Albariño last night. Amazing apricot nose when the bottle was first opened, but didn't taste anything like any Spanish Albariños, and wasn't very nice. It wasn't awful like the Verdad we tried a couple of years ago, but we put it aside and went on to more interesting wines.

It's been a couple vintages back that I tried it, but Michael Havens Albariño is quite attractive though for the money one can buy a top notch Spanish one. George Hendry has planted some in his Napa Valley vineyard and I think the first release will come out this year.
