Goodbye Passeros
Almost every weekday morning, I enjoyed a perfect espresso at Passeros, and then this morning, it was gone. Not just the one in Suburban Station, but the one at JFK as well. The sign indicates that some of the shops will be taken over by "Juan Valdez Coffees" and some of the same staff will remain.
Any other grieving Passeros fans out there in Chowland?

Get ready to think COLOMBIAN. The JV Chain is owned by the Coffee Federation of Colombia. They only had 4-5 stores when they opened in 2004 in NYC, Chicago, Washington DC and LA as well as Seattle - where they have just ONE in "Starbucks City". I went to the one in Seattle when I was there twice. Nicely run and they price their coffee 10 cents per cup less than the competitors.
See this story from 2004 for more info.

Oh my goodness! I usually walk by the one in Suburban Station, but did not this morning. As of last week, they were still there! How about the one at Broad & Locust? I'm devastated! I can't give you any news because I didn't even know they were closing. Where to go now for cappucino? I refuse to go to Starbucks.
