I've been looking for a good Belgian style frites joint in the area, preferably with some tasty ale to wash it all down. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone. I think I'll try Bar Tabac.

I like Bacchus on Atlantic between Nevins and Bond. Bar Tabac is pretty good too, but the service is rude at best so I don't go anymore.

Second Tabac, though I've never had a problem with the service. Also just tried SugarLounge on Columbia and they had some pretty tasty frites served in the ubiquitous little metal pail thing. But to my knowledge there's no real Belgian-style places in this neck of the woods.

I third the motion for Bar Tabac. Not necessarily Belgian, but good moules frites. Nice weather to sit at the little outdoor tables.

Maybe Cocotte on 5th Avenue at about 4th or 5th Street. I haven't been in awhile, but I seem to recall a good steak and the right kind of crispy little fries.

Moutard at President and 5th might also be worth a try, although I have to say I was less than thrilled the last time I went there.
