little italy doc on wnbc-4

Anyone catch the documentary on nbc (4) this evening at 7pm? It was titled "Little Italy: Past, Present, and Future". There was a lot of discussion about NoLita or North Little Italy. Anyway, there was a restauranteur/chef describing his pizza place in NoLita--just wondering if anyone here knows what this restaurant is called. He is claiming to be the only person outside of Italy that is serving "authentic" pizza by the laws established in Italy. Any help here would be great...

  1. I saw that, name of the place was L'Asso I think. I was wondering myself about it since I'd never heard anyone mention it before.

See if this helps....their website needs some fixing.

Click on all the options and see what you get.

    2. I've been to L'Asso and I like it. It is a bit pricey, but I never compare it to cheap, good NY style pizza; to me they are different dishes. I'm not expert on authentic Italian pizza at all, so L'Asso may be authentic to a particular region of Italy, but I'm a huge fan of (also pricey) Una Pizzeria Napoletana on 12th St in the EV which I can verify is deliciously reminiscent of pizza served in Naples.

      1. I missed the first half of the show but I enjoyed the part that I saw. I hope they will rerun it.
