One Night in Philly

Will be in Philly one week night to meet with a friend for dinner. I LOVE beer, and we are open to Indian, Mexican/S. American, Thai, Korean, or whatever. Would love to hear your suggestions.

  1. beer: eulogy or monks cafe

    1. Or Tria. Or Grace's Tavern if you like your Chimay with a side of Tom Waits, a cloud of smoke and alcoholic locals.

      1. Which is more important, beer or food? If it's a zillion Belgian ales and the best burgers and fries in Philly (but not much else overly redeeming), I'd second Monks. If you're looking for more upscale food with a less varied beer selection I would go elsewhere.

        1. For a great beer selection and some interesting food, go to Bridgid's - 726 N 24th St - in the Fairmount section of the city. Delerium Tremens on tap.....mmmmmmmmmmm........

Hmmm, I have heard some REALLY bad things about Brigid's food; Granted, I have not experienced it myself, but it might be a good idea to stick to their beer and have food elsewhere.

Brigid's food is NOT bad......It's simple fare, not real extraordinary, but it's always good. And cheap. Great (usually small) beer selection.

          2. New Wave at 3rd and Catherine has more upscale food and a good beer selection....

Menu looks good. Are there other places close by for barley-based libations on tap as well?

            2. Nodding Head on Sansom, above the Oyster House, has great award-winning microbrews and some pretty decent chow. They even have vegan dishes, if you're into that.

                Hmmm...definitely an inticing option. Thanks.
