The Best Source For Dried Appricots [Split from Home Cooking thread]

The best dried apricots (also peaches, cherries, plums etc. etc.) I've ever had were from

Bella Viva Farm. Their "tangy" apricots make fantastic apricot filling--Barack Lekvar (I think) in Hungarian, to be rolled in Palacsinta (crepes.)

The sulphared ones are gonna be bright orange and less sticky. I prefer those, but the natural ones are growing on me.

Trader Joe's carries pretty good dried apricots - those wonderful california ones. Sulfured and unsulfured.

A couple of types are identified on the site as "no-sulphur"--the others are sulphured. The tangy apricots are sulphured. My personal preference is for the sulphured ones--the no-sulphur are really chewy, almost hard. Besides the apricots I really recommend the (sulphured) white nectarines, but everything from those folks is good, in my experience.

Thanks, I prefer sulphured apricots as well. I bought some California dried apricots when I was in San Francisco last December and loved them, but they're difficult to find locally. I guess everyone buys the Turkish ones because they're about half the price but have no taste.

Thank you for the link. Do you know if their apricots are sulphured or unsulphured? The website doesn't mention this.
