Mac and Cheese in Twin Cities

A friend was asking me where to get good mac and cheese in the Twin Cities. A couple years ago I would have said Big E's. Some of the other likely places (i.e. Modern, Town Talk) I don't think actually serve it. Any recos out there?

The Chowish Lurker reports that the Mac and Cheese at the Triple Rock Social Club is excellent (and also available in vegan form). It is big bowl of creamy mac and cheese with a little bit of a kick, complete with a crispy (bread crumb?) topping.

I'm completely embarassed to admit it, but I really like the mac & cheese at the Twin Cities Grill at the Mall of America. It's good and creamy with buttery bread crumbs, tomatoes and bacon crumbles on top.

Sweeney's in St. Paul has mac and cheese on their menu. I haven't tried it, but it appears to be penne in cream sauce, sprinkled with cheddar and baked...

Noodles and Co. has pretty good Mac & Cheese, too.

For straight-up comfort food mac & cheese like Mom used to make, you can get a nice bowl at Blondie's Cafe in St. Paul (Snelling & Randolph) or at Anodyne Cafe in Minneapolis (Nicollet & 43rd).

The bowl at Anodyne is topped with crumbled potato chips. Wait, now I can't recall whether it's mac & cheese or tuna casserole. May need to eat my words on that ... which would be a very nice thing in this case.

Yum in St Louis Park has some that's pretty good.

I would have mentioned Abundant Bistro, but they just closed this week. :(

According to Dara's rundown of the midtown global market, West Indies Soul is doing a Soul Food Brunch on Sundays, and has a good mac and cheese. (West Indies is also doing outside BBQ/Soul Food at their location on University on Saturdays, and I think I saw the Mac and Cheese on that menu.)

In the same area, I recently noticed a sign that Nardie's Cafe is once again doing the food in the back window at Arnellia's, a few years ago, their Mac and Cheese was pretty good, but I haven't been there since. (It was a good spot for wings, if you don't mind having to walk through a metal detector to get them.)
