Chef/Husband has a Friday night off - NWish CT

My chef husband has a rare Friday night off and we want some really, really good food and a laidback but hippish scene. Willing to travel 60 miles in any direction (except NYC for a change) from Litchfield area.

Any thoughts? We don't get out much...

    Not sure how hippish, but I've always had wonderful meals at Carole Peck's:

      Try the West Stree Grille in Litchfield or John Andrews Restaurant in Egremont,Ma. for great food in a hip-atmosphere.
      Ocean 211 in Stamford has live 60's and 70's musician and great food.
      Your chef-husband will probably get some great recipie ideas from any of these places.
