San Sebastian, Spain
I will be in San Sebastian for a few days this month. I'd love to find the great restaurants where the locals go. I know there are some really high end restaurants there but that's not what I'm looking for. Do you know of any moderately priced places that have really great food? Thank you!!

There are no shortage of great food in San Sebastian. Strolling in the Parte Vieja and eating pintxos is one of the great pleasure of San Sebastian. This area is lined with restaurants and pintxo places. Just drop in to any that looks good and you can't go wrong. Some of my favorites are:
Alona Berri, Bergara, La Cepa, Ganbara, Ormazabel, La Cuchara de San Telma, Txpetxa, Casa Gandarias.
Some of these places also serve full sit down meals.
A couple of places away from the Parte Vieja are:
Bar Sebastian for simple grilled fish
Astelhena and Ambosio, both near the Plaza de la Constitucion
San Sebastian is full of tourists, especially in August. One will be hard pressed to avoid that but fortunately the locals don't mind mingling with us. If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to answer them. Have a great time and please report back.›3 Replies
