Thoughts on Cowgirl?

Has anyone ever been to Cowgirl (aka Cowgirl Hall of Fame)? I'm thinking of taking a group of 15 people there for a birthday and would like to know more about the place. thanks!

I haven't been there in at least five years. Nice idea for a place, but I always remember the food being vile. They served corn dogs that were frozen (they had the brand name on the stick) and their lemonade was poured from a carton of Newman's Own at the waitstation. I can do all that at home for less money.

Have to disagree, I live right near the place and I love it. The "chicken fried" items are especially good and for groups its pretty good tex/mex as well as child-friendly. Though the corndogs and lemonade might want to be skipped (iced tea and frito pies are acceptable replacements in my opinion which they make there).

I haven't been in years, but I always thought the food was fine for what it is. A birthday party for 15 seems just about the right vibe.

I was there about 4 years ago. The burgers were pretty good - a solid B to B+.

i think it's a good, lively spot for a party, especially a big group. i've been there several times for birthdays and it's fun. i think the food is pretty good. i like the chicken fried steak, frito pie, fried catfish sandwich and their burger. the margaritas are pretty good, too.

just wanted to give a big thumbs up for cowgirl for parties. we had a party in their back space recently (which is super cool - check it out) for 50 people and it was outstanding. not only is their food not "vile," it is top notch quality. everyone raved about the Bean and Cheese Quesadillas, Artichoke Fritters, Shrimp and Sausage Skewers, Chicken Fried Chicken Bites, BBQ Ribs, and Chicken Taquitos. this chowhound agreed!

Additionally the staff was both gracious and efficient. I cannot say enough good things.

It's a fun place to pound some beers and taste some really cool esoteric tequilas, but the food is almost, to a dish, deep-fried or meat. I found a grilled salmon preparation there once that was fine, but otherwise it is really heavy food. Even the greens are fried or really oily. I faced the fact that it was for nights when you wanted to get buzzed and didn't care how unhealty what you were putting in your body was!
