Hello All,

I am meeting a friend for breakfast in Simi Valley, selected solely for location convenience and unfortunately means neither of us are very familiar with the choosings. Does any one have any recommendations for breakfast places or even a good coffee or bakery place? I looked online and saw that the Corner Bakery does not open until 10 which is too late for us.

Thank you in advance for your guidance.
Heidi

  1. My fave breakfast joint in Simi is the Firehouse Cafe - 1244 Sycamore Street X street Royal. Awesome breakfast, but also serve everything. Used to be owned by a couple of firefighters, homestyle cooking and friendly service.

These places are pretty solid too:

    Simi Deli - Cochran/Tapo Street
    Eggs n Things - Cochran/Sycamore area
    Millies - Sycamore/Cochran

    1. I'd confirm Eggs 'n Things, also have heard good stuff about Firehouse Cafe

      1. I'll third the recommendation of Firehouse! I'll also agree with davinagr about Millies; I love eating there. Can't go wrong with either.

        1. There is also the Egg House, on LA Ave between First and Erringer across from Mc D's. Great food too. Millies is tops. Eggs N' Things is where you will find most folks out here eat breakfast. They have a great variety plus they give you a swedish pancake with jam right after you order. They are on LA Ave in the Target center near TJ's. Firehouse is not as good but never bad. They generously support all sort of charitable causes and people in need all over the city. Also on First Street just north of LA Ave after all the car dealerships is First Street Cafe. (name changed recently I am not sure) If you want to venture to Moorpark go to Cactus Patch on High street near Secret Garden, the fire station and the old Melodrama. They have good home cooking and have been around for years. Simi Deli is horrid. Period! I have NEVER had anything good there ever. People that like that place dont know deli. (go Brent's)

Simi...regarding your comment about Simi Deli "People that like that place dont know deli. (go Brent's)". The OP asked about breakfast places in Simi, not in the Valley. Simi Deli does a fine breakfast, has a large menu with several choices and is open quite early. Definately a viable choice among others. Comparing any deli in the Conejo Valley or San Fernando Valley to Brents is an unfair comparison...we all know that Brent's is superior. I think your remark on this establishment and to my post is a bit harsh.

            1. re: davinagr

I didnt mean to be harsh and my apologies to you. You are 100% right. Still, IMO without any comparison to Brent's I would be happier anywhere else for breakfast.

Many thanks for the recommendations. Ironically, we do usually meet at Brents, but wanted to see if we could get something a little more convenient location-wise. I appreciate the help!

          2. FIREHOUSE CAFE BY FAR IS #1 - STARTED WORKING CLOSE BY A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO - BEEN TO THIS LOCATION 1-2 X PER MONTH FOR BREAKFAST AND EVERYTHING IS EXCEPTIONAL - GREAT COOKS, EXCELLENT SERVICE (W/ SMILES!) AND VERY CLEAN - JUST HAD LUNCH HERE FOR THE FIRST TIME (TODAY!) THEIR "ARSON" CHICKEN SANDWICH IS TOP NOTCH!!! THEY HAVE STEAK FRIES WHICH MANY PLACES AROUND HERE DON'T HAVE......... VERY NICE SELECTION FOR THE LUNCH MENU!!! HEY FIREHOUSE.........GET A WEBSITE AND POST YOUR MENU SO WE CAN ORDER FROM WORK AND COME PICK IT UP!

            1. eggs n' things. yes.

but if you guys want to venture to thousand oaks you should check out Harolds House Of Omelettes on Thousand Oaks blvd.

              1. Mavericks-a steak and rib place is now open weekends in Simi Valley. The menu isn't large now for breakfast but I think as they become known for weekend breakfasts they will expand the menu a bit. As I recall we both had hamburger patty, eggs and pancakes. It was great. There is always an owner on site making sure everyone is happy.
