Honmura An

Pure serenity. "Best quality California uni sashimi".mmmmmmmmmm. Giant shrimp tempura with shitake and green pepper tempura-transported me right back to Tokyo. The cold soba with scallions, soy sauce, bonito flakes, nori and, of course, more uni, was great and I picked up the bowl and slurped it to the end at the suggestion of the maitre'd. Apricot mochi for dessert was perfect. great sake. Great service. Great place. Just reread Ruth Reichel's old review of the place and she was right on and apparently nothing's changed. Highly recommended to escape the heat wave.

  1. *smiles*...yeah, i had the seasonal tasting menu there last fall and loved only complaint was rushed service from the busboys (trying to clear half-empty plates)...otherwise, delicious and wonderful...
