Waverly Market Delicacies to Beat the Heat
Could not face cooking, even grilling in this heat so we stopped at Waverly Market and picked up some sandwiches and accoutrement.
Porchetta with Bruschetta Sandwich: Ample, thinly sliced, garlicky, house-made porchetta topped with a relish of tomato/onion, basil that sang summer flavors. Contained in a respectable italian sub roll. $6 and change.
Mixed Roasted Vegetable Sandwich: I'm going back to get another of these tomorrow. The same bread layered with sweet roasted red and yellow peppers, roasted carrots, marinated green beans, garlicky broccoli rabe and a perfectly breaded and fried slender eggplant steak. Heaven! Also $6 and change.
A Limonata and an Aranciata rounded out the meal and helped beat the heat. On the way out I picked up some house-made porcini mushroom ravioli to put in the freezer until cooking is once more a viable option. What a treasure this little shop is!

Yes, this is it. And FYI they only take cash and checks.

Is it still like a neighborhood corner store?? It used to be called The Waverly Street Market. My Dad went there for years (starting the early 60's), buying his mortadella, salami, and provalone. Framingham Baking is right around the corner at 840 Waverly Street. They have wonderful, old world breads and square pizza.
Nice to hear that they are still in business. Don't get to that area much any more after moving west.
