Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel

We're taking my mom to the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel for a big birthday to use a gift certificate she received. I looked at the website. I'm assuming that Restaurant 162 is the nicest restaurant there. Has anyone been there? Any suggestions as to what to order or what to avoid? Are some tables better than others? We'll be a party of 9. Any help would be great.

  1. Has anyone been to Restaurant 162 at the Ritz Laguna Niguel? Anyone?

    1. Went there yesterday with my wife. Ordered chicken and she ordered veal cheeks and lobster. My chicken was dry so I returned it for the lamb. They charged me for the lamb. My wife loved the veal and lobster; the lamb was very good. Also had foie gras and heirloom tomatoes (small plates) plus the fettucini with wild mushrooms and truffle dust (medium plate). Drank two half bottles of Crema chardonnay, one sweet vermouth and one VC champagne (very expensive flute). Then had the small chocolate warm cake or brownie. Service was pretty good but not as attentive as I might have expected. Check was more expensive than I might have thought, but the champagne did boot it up considerably. All in all we had a good time. And of course the view out the windows is spectacular.

      1. I had an ok lunch there, but the view is what it's all about - be sure you get a window table.

ditto. it is about the view and the food is better if kept simpler. actually my bouillabaise wasn't bad at all, now that i think of it. + i am very picky about it. the chef was accomodating with it, bringing me a taste beforehand, b/c i said i didn't want one that wasn't quite good.
