ISO "Trendy-Healthy" in LA / Beverly Hills area

Being from one of the "fattest cities" in the country, there aren't many healthy choices. I'm visiting the LA area and would like to try a California / "healthy" establishment. Any suggestions?

Thanks! I did go to Newsroom Cafe and enjoyed the many choices and great outdoor seating.

It's not in the Beverly Hills area, but the new restaurant Tender Greens seems healthy, organic and very California, LA. Haven't been there yet, but planning on it soon.

Real Food Daily- 2 locations http://www.realfood.com/

now that they redecorated, it is a little trendier.

Jack Sprats on Overland & Pico -- they serve warm pretzils in place of bread and have terrific air baked french fries. When I lived on the west side this was my staple -- great salads, turkey burgers, etc.

There is also the Urth on South Beverly which is much better then the one on Melrose. (less of a scene and none of the out of work commercial actors)
I actually think the food and service it much better at this location and the seating it better as well.

Beware, though, the flipside to that are the obnoxious teenage brats (yes, full-on BRATS) that hang there after school is out.

in beverly hills, there's basic bited for healthy salads... and porta via on canon has a really good entree with grilled salmon or chicken with steamed veggies and brown rice. really tasty!

Firehouse in Venice if you're into bodybuilders. Definitely not trendy though.

Try M Cafe de Chaya at Melrose and La Brea -- it's not that far from Beverly Hills and you have a good chance of a star sighting.
Another good choice is the Newsroom Cafe on Robertson across from the Ivy -- healthy and near all the trendy Robertson shops.
