Txocoli in NYC?
Buenas! I have just returned from my honeymoon in Spain, where I had the pleasure of discovering txocoli. Owing to a flat tire and a regional holiday, I wasn't able to go to the liquor store and stock up before coming home, and now I'm parched for it. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to buy some?! And if not a store, then a restaurant where my husband and I can make ourselves regulars? Gracias in advance!

Do any of these bars/restaurants pour the txacoli like they do in the Basque Country, i.e., from very far away from the glass to aerate the wine (and for the showmanship too, no doubt).
I brought back a bottle and tried to pour it from on high, and a good 2/3 of the wine ended up in the sink because my aim was so bad.

Havent seen the high pour in NY. In Barcelona they poured it like that into weird wide-mouthed wine tumblers with serving lines etched on them about 3/4 inch from the bottom. The high sides of the tumbler kept the splashes inside.
In restaurants here and in Spain I recall txacoli as tasting fresh, clean, lemony and light, but both bottles I have purchased in stores have had much funky flavor. I am wondering if they were old? Passing off last year's wine (I think these wines are NV like vinho verde)? Anyway, this has made me not want to buy any more.
The exception is Itsas Mendi, a different style of Txacoli (still, no bubbles, much less acidic), more like a pinot grigio. They have that on the list at Pearl Oyster Bar and in stores. It's quite good but not the same thing.

3 labels at the wine store in the Chelsea Market (prices a tad high). They also have a red which sounds interesting.
The Xarmant is cheaper at Chambers St wines:

I’ve had it at Ureña (semi-Spanish) and more recently at Cookshop (not Spanish in the least). It seems to be growing in popularity.
