<content>Which establishment in the South Shore makes the best pizza? I've tried some of them, and looking for new pizzerias to try. The South Shore rarely gets discussed on the food boards.</content>

<content>Mike's? It's a joke, right? I don't mean to be snob, but I'll be. It's a chain that makes the same pizza in Gatineau, Chicoutimi, Rimouski or Brossard. There must be something better than this stuff on the South Shore.</content>

<content>I've heard very good things about Pizza Como (one in La Prairie and one in Delson). I went to the Delson one a while back -- it's a big family resto kind of atmosphere, but the pizza was hearty and good (not exactly delicate). I wrote about it on my blog:
http://www.blork.org/blorkblog/?p=976

I also got a pizza from Miss Italia once (at least two locations: one on Cure-Poirier in Longueuil, and one in either Greenfield Park or Saint Lambert). It was a big heavy and greasy thing, but mighty tasty. I wrote about that one too:
http://www.blork.org/blorkblog/?p=1123

You'll notice that I have a thing for bacon and mushroom pizza. That only applies when I get a big sloppy suburban pizza. When I'm in town I usually go for something more delicate, such as the classic Margherita at Prato on the Main.

I had a Mike's pizza about a year ago. It was pretty boring.</content>

<content>Miss Italia has two locations(one in Longueuil on Cure Poirier West; one in St-Lambert on Victoria). I've been to their St-Lambert location &amp; find their pizzas very good.

You mention Prato on the Main. It's among the best pizzas I've tasted. Does anyone make a similiar pizza to Prato(I can't think of any)?</content>

<content>Are their slight regional differences in pizzas from different parts of Montreal. For example, are the pizzas in the South Shore, different than say in the West Island? Or between the east end(&amp; beyond) of Montreal vs the west end(&amp; beyond) of Montreal?</content>

<content>Pizzeria Jacques never fails to impress.

alhtough not much to look at, I recommend eating at the resto rather than delivery/takeout, as the crust loses its crustiness in shipping.

As a side note Pizzeria Longueuil used to be even better but lost its shine since they expanded the restaurant :(</content>

      <content>Oh yes it is!

In fact good "montreal" pizza is easier to find in the suburbs and in the regions now than downtown where chains, "gourmet" and cheap 2 for 1's are invading the marketplace.</content>

<content>I'm a visitor (I live in Hollywood, CA) to the area for about a month. I'm staying in Boucherville.

Yesterday I went to Pizzedelic for lunch and had a very good Mediteraneo pizza. It was an 8" square pizza served on a tasty thin crust. It was topped with fresh tomato slices, sun dried tomatoes, olives, mozzarella, marinated red onions, parmesan and a tasty pesto sauce.

I really enjoyed it, and I plan to go back.</content>

<content>Hey Lil Mikey, there are Pizzedelics all over Montreal, not just the south shore. Personally, I'm not a fan. I find their crust is like a big saltine cracker. Not so good. Not so bad, actually, if you get a pie that is light on the toppings, but when you get one that is piled high with stuff it just seems to weigh it down and you end up with a soggy lump.

Lou Nissart, a Nicoise restaurant on rue St. Jean in Longueuil makes quite a good pizza. Thin crust, dinner-plate sized, with fresh tasty toppings. They have a dozen or so to choose from. Nice setting, too. But a tip: ask for the bill as soon as they bring your coffee/desert. I've been there about a dozen times, and the service is always nice and friendly, but for some reason it always takes forever to get the bill! It's like they serve desert and then move back to France!
