feeling squeezed by picco

went to picco, the restaurant side, this weekend like several ops. I wanted to like this place, I really did. Service was smooth initially but towards the end, they were clearly in a rush to turn our table. While we were having our coffee and finishing dessert, they pointedly brought our bill. Not 5 min later, they came and remarked on the fact that we still hadn't brought out our credit card. Come on, if I'm spending that kind of money, can I at least have an hour and a half to enjoy my meal?! Also, prices seemed high for quantity of food. $22 for a tapas size portion of (overcooked) scallops? $13 for a weird skewered raw hamachi, green bean and pepper with a soy sauce dip thing? If there was as much hamachi as you'd find in a standard nigiri sushi order, I'd be surprised. Don't know what the pizza part of the operation is like, but I'm not impressed with the restaurant.

The pizza side on my two visits has been mellow and never rushed.

The first time they were packed yet no one was pushed out.

Yesterday was a Monday and I went early, so only the outdoor tables were occupied.

Even so, they let me sit at a four-top and let me linger enjoying the warm day. Also, at another table one guy ordered a glass of wine and lingered ... and lingered ... reading a book and decided not to order and they never pressured him. I was impressed by the pizza side in that regard.

regarding the lingering non-eating book reader, i don't know if their lack of pressure on a guy that clearly should be at the library (not a restaurant) is admirable or bad business...they are, after all, a food service establishment.
