Great cup of coffee and pleasant atmosphere near Washington Square park?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a nice cup of coffee and a comfortable setting for chatting near Washington Square Park. There are tons of places, so could you suggest personal favorites?

I second Jack's. Great coffee. Joe's is also great, but I don't quite like the atmosphere. Think is good to spend hours if you want but the coffee cannot compete with Jack's or Joe.

Not much further than Joe is Jack's Stir Brewed Cofee. I find the vibe to be a little more comfortable than Joe. Love the espresso at Joe but the decor is too much like Starbucks for me.

La Lanterna is nearby there on McDougal Street. It has a pretty cute atmosphere. Some good desserts to go with coffee too.

The original Joe is even closer--on Waverly Place, just west of 6th Ave.

This is a trifle further out, but Grey Dog is fantastic (and also has delicious iced coffee). On Carmine.

Think Coffee on Mercer near West 3rd. Excellent coffee, good treats, and lots of space to sit.

Agreed-- I love Think. Their cold brewed iced coffee is fantastic and the space is great.

Another vote for THINK. Found it by accident while walking on Mercer. Great iced coffee and a cool place too.
