Like a Local

  • 2

Just got back from Amsterdam where I ate a meal at a like a local sponsored restaurant. I reserved the meal through http://like-a-local.com/ which hooks up local hosts with people who want to meet said locals. Not only do they have local hosts who serve you in their homes, but also local host beds and outings. Great idea. Like a local is trying to expand across Europe and, finally, to the states- I'm geeked to get it going.

The site is in both Dutch and English

You can check out my review of my experience of "saskia's restaurant" (found on like a local) in Amsterdam. It is on the International board under Like a Local: Amsterdam.

  1. What a great idea! I have seen other sites that do the same sort of things, in terms of hooking up visitors with 'locals,' especially for meals in their homes, but this is a nice combination.
Hope to see it expand more - I think that European travelers are more open to something like this, rather than you average US tourist, unfortunately. But that would bode well for their success in the US!

I'm thinking of registering as a local... Could be fun!
