One month in cali (from NY).. where to eat?

So I'm starting in Northern Cali.. Santa Rosa... and in Napa and surrounding places there are the obvious Bouchon, French laundry, Martini House and in San Fran.. Gary Danko..... but I'm wondering if anybody has suggestions on places to check out there are AWESOME that maybe don't have as much press...... any good value places? good wine list? Good creative food??
