ISO East Bay Apple Fritters

A good version of the crappy donut shop style. My in-laws in the UK love these (as a result of a dozen years spent living in Ventura County). Flying to the UK tomorrow and hope to bring a couple with me. A silly "thought that counts" birthday gift for my father-in-law.

hello, if you're in the vicinity of the MacArthur BART station (Oakland) try Golden Gate donuts on Telegraph nr. 41st--in the 'hood of Korean eats, west side of the street. Haven't tried the fritters, was tempted, but their honey wheats are *very* good. You're going to a better place, have fun.

Castro Valley Donuts 22150 Redwood Rd, Castro Valley, CA (510) 581-1900. It is run by the nicest old Asian couple. Their doughnuts are okay, nothing to write home about but their apple fritters are delish. It's fried a little longer than normal fritters so it's a bit crips on the edges (the way I like it) and there are a lot of little pieces of canned apples inside.

It can be sort of hidden if you don't pay attention, it's next to a Mexican restaurant called Los Molcajetes.

Hope the OP will reply about where in the Esat Bay is convenient.
