Going to Disney World good resturant in the area
Two sets of grandparents and one very excited 5 year old are going to Disneyworld next week. I am looking for a great place for a evening meal that would have both Steak and Seafood and something a 5 year old would like. Price is not a issue but I am afaid some resturant will not like my grandson around. Please advise. We have a car and can travel a little ways.
Help me narrow your choices a bit. Where are you staying? If in a Disney hotel, things are simplified because you can use Disney's far-flung, tremendously efficient, if somewhat overwhelmed at peak times transportation system.
Are you looking for one great meal, one night, or do you need advice on several days, several meals?
There are many good restaurants, many average restaurants and many restaurants that serve a specific purpose like a buffet with all the Disney characters, or a place for a quick serve lunch, or truely fine dining.
All of the above suggestions are good, and getting a reservation in advance for a special meal next week can be tough (Epcot Food & Wine starts Sept. 29). Again, staying in a Disney hotel and using the concierge can be a big help.
Give us a little more info and I'll do my best to advise you.
And yes, A five year old in a Disney restaurant is not only normal but welcome.
There are so many I can't name a specific restaurant off the top of my head, but I can count on one hand the restaurants in Orlando that would not welcome a 5-year-old -- and none of them are within 10 miles of Disney. :-P
If you want a park restaurant, call their reservation line, (407-WDW-DINE) RIGHT NOW from home. Depending on when/where you want to dine, your choices may be a lot more limited than you think. It's becoming increasingly harder to get human-hour seating times at many of the character restaurants.
That said, if you want to be on Disney property but don't have to have characters, I like the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht & Beach Club. You can also take a stroll on the Disney Boardwalk afterwards. Excellent steak and service, and of course every place has a kids menu. ;-)
There are literally hundreds of restaurants in and surrounding Disney and children are welcome virtually everywhere. I'm going to recommend Shula's Steak house at the Dolphin Hotel on the Disney property. (dolphin....shula...get it?) This is a classic steakhouse with good seafood. My personal favorite would be Jiko, the African restaurant at the Animal Kingdom resort. They do steak and seafood very well and children are always present at this excellent restaurant. This is Disney so the African influence is lightly done. Awesome wines here at a reasonable (for a resort) cost. LMF
