Extralife for Produce [moved from General Topics board]

This is supposed to prolong your produce storage. Has anyone ever used it? Reviews? Thoughts?

  1. I have and I think it works. But it definitely is important to clean out rotting produce--one bad apple spoils the bunch

    1. My mom gave me a gift of a set of FresherLonger storage containers from the Sharper Image. I admit I was very skeptical. But they work like gangbusters!

They are made from microwaveable, dishwasher-friendly plastic that has been impregnated with silver to retard spoilage. The seals are silicone. They are not cheap but pay for themselves very quickly because they do work.

I had a containerful of plum tomatoes in the fridge for more than a week. They looked just-picked. Then I went away to a conference for a week. When I returned, the tomatoes were still there, and they were still perfect. Same with raspberries - which usually have a very short fridge-life.

I just bought a second set. I am no longer skeptical. Amazing stuff!
