Eating in/around Avalon NJ?

Scrapplejunkie Jul 29, 2006 03:02 AM

I'm sharing a place in Avalon NJ in a week. Recommendations on places? Doesn't need to be fancy, but if there is someplace you love or that is not to be missed, let me know.

Cafe Lauren has a nice laid back and quaint atmosphere
Food is not spectacular but is very good and well presented
Bring a good bottle of wine and you will enjoy yourself.

    Avalon @ 18th street?

Second the vote for Karen and Reis

If you can travel and have deep pockets, Try Savaradio in
Linwood - you must have one of their desserts.

    Good luck

We like 2 Italian restaurants in Sea Isle, next to Avalon.Basilica's on 43rd just above Landis and La Fontana's in Strathmere. The spelling may be off.

i haven't been blown away by any avalon / stone harbor eateries, but these are good:
        breakfast- brian's waffle house
        dinner- via mare, sea grill

For a light lunch on a summer day, try the vegetarian and near-vegetarian offerings of Green Cuisine one town south in Stone Harbor. Good hummus, interesting sandwiches and salads.

And to make up for the wholesome goodness, top it off with a scoop or two from Springer's Homemade Ice Cream, also Stone Harbor.

If you care to venture offshore, see if you can get reservations at Karen and Reis. It's outstanding.
