RW in Baltimore Rejected

Seduced by the thought of a bargan chowworthy type multicourse meal for $30 I tryed to make a reservation early this week for Restaurant Week. Prime Rib, booked; Black Olive, booked; Capital Grill, booked; Saffron, booked etc. So I made a reservation at True. After doing a little research it seemed that True would be a hit or miss mostly miss so I canceled. I concluded that a good dining experience was better then a deal and went to the dependable Chameleon. Three of us ordered lightly but came away full for just under $90. This included one each of wine, Irish coffee and beer, two entrees, one appetizer and one desert. I was particularly fond of the veal loin and liver with veal glace, pearl onions, broccalrabe, lardoons and garlic mashed. Anyway, I was most pleased to have rejected the RW seen.

That was the Chameleon and not Charleston and we did under order. I could not find much on Chowhound about true but did find this:http://www.chowhound.com/topics/show/... I also googled the Admiral Fell Inn and comments on True were very mixed leaning to negative. I think at traveladvisor.com. Anyway I still will plan to go to True and judge myself as I like the concept of local and organic foods. RW would probably not be the best time to judge a restaurant.

I think that they were talking about Chameleon Cafe, not Charleston. You're right, that would have been a fantastic bargain!

I'm glad you had a good meal at Charleston, and I'm very impressed that you came out under $100 for three people.

Having said that, I have a question about True. What research did you find that showed it would be a miss? I went there twice last summer and very much enjoyed my meal there both times.

I'm not surprised that your top choices were booked if you waited until "early this week" to try to get reservations. Yes, Chameleon Cafe is wonderful but I wouldn't be so smug about your own lack of foresight. You didn't "reject the RW scene," you missed the boat.

Hey, I agree with you. I ended up going to the Prime Rib for RW. It was a fantastic experience and I really enjoyed it, but I don't think it was much of a bargain. I probably would not have otherwise gone to the Prime Rib without a reason on a summer Tuesday night, so I guess RW was effective, but with one drink each, the bill came to $100 with tip for two.
