Saigon gone?

Went to the East Bay to meet my visiting sister and nephew for a dim sum blowout lunch. We planned to join up at Saigon, at the Pacific Mall located where El Cerrito/Richmond/Albany intersect.

Saigon, once a very booming place, was boarded up! Does anyone know the story on this?

We ended up at Daimo instead.

  1. there was a fire around June 28, 2006.

    1. there is a sign up that says they are in the process of rebuilding the restaurant - hope that this is true.

When they rebuild, hope they improve the acoustics.

Hate to lose those nice murals, tho.

Hope they improve the service and the attitude also. I'm convinced it was torched by a customer who couldn't take the ambiance.

Daimo was fine, as always. Skimpy list of dim sum (we were in a dim sum mood) but an order of BBQ duck and veggies rounded things out nicely.

        2. I had a great order of Mongolian chicken at Daimo a couple weeks ago.
