Picnic in Central Park

Gastro Al Jul 28, 2006 09:24 AM

My fiancee and I will be heading to Manhattan for my fiancee's 30th this year. She has always loved Central Park during the winter and I thought I would surprise her with a picnic for lunch on her birthday. For some reason she prefers to be out in the cold rather than inside at one of the restaurants!
Does anyone know of a company that will prepare a hot (soups, coffee etc) picnic and deliver it to my hotel on the morning of the picnic.

Thanks everyone.

You could try Dean & DeLuca.

I don't know if they'll deliver but I think Bouchon Bakery is perfect for a picnic in Central Park. They have sandwiches and hot soups and are located in Columbus Circle (the south west corner of the park) so it would be pretty easy to pick the food up and walk right into the park...

Check out pictures of the picnic we had @ http://egustibus.wordpress.com/2006/0...

According to this NY Mag article, bouchon does picnic baskets.

Depending on where you're coming from, you could pick up some picnic foods from citarella (3rd ave & 75th) and head on over to the park.

what hotel or area are you staying in?

some hotels, like the trump international, will pack picnics for you.
