Over on the Beer Board, there was a mention that The Bistro in Hayward has two IPA festivals each year, one coming up in August (50 + India Pale Ales on tap).

The menu is brief soups, sandwiches, quiche, salads and a daily special. But you gotta love a place with a sandwich called "Too Hip for Hayward" (roast beef, red onion, sundried tomato spread, feta, garlic mayo, greens on baguette)

They have 12 Microbrews on Tap and 30 Belgian Beers. There's wine and it says the coffee is locally roasted.

Coming up in November is a Barrel Age Beer Festival - over 50 different barrel aged beers on tap.

Past beer events included:

Hop Rhizome Beer Festival (15 different varieties)
Belgian Beer Festival (24 on tap)

Any input on this place?

Wow. That's a lot of IPA's. How many could you sample before they all start to taste the same?

I work around Hayward so I'll have to check the place out. That's a long drive back to the city though....

The Bistro is a community happening place. They have great music, wonderful beers, and are keyed into their town. The food, it's ok, but it's the beer, the ownners (Vic & Cyn) with their love of life and their establishment, and the music that makes the Bistro a place to return to.
