Rhode Island Prix-Fixe or meal deals?

Anyone have any recommendations for a good prix-fixe meal or a good meal deal (ex: two entrees, bottle of wine for a set price) in Rhode Island?

Many thanks!

  1. In Providence, New Rivers has a $25 pre-fixe Monday through Thursday that comes with a salad, an entree, and a dessert (no wine though) - it's a good deal, considering the quality of the restaurant.

Downcity Food and Cocktails (over near PPAC) also has a decent pre-fixe on Tuesdays and Sundays, though the regular menu is reasonably enough priced there that I always end up getting something else.

    1. New rivers is quite good for the Prix fixe as is Gracies. Chez Pascal also has a decent one.

As for Downcity, it burned down a couple of months ago....

Downcity burned down?! Good Lord. Thanks for the update - hope they find a place to relocate.

called the business mans lunch at about $13 a bargain and very high quality food in an elegant atmosphere

          1. As Basachs said above, Chez Pascal has a prix fixe (Tues-Thurs, I think), but I'd say it's considerably better than New Rivers (but then, I think Chez Pascal is considerably better than New Rivers). The relative merits of the two restaurents aside, I noticed that every time I looked at the Prix Fixe options at New Rivers they seemed cheap (cup of soup or simple salad) whereas at Chez Pascal we got more substantial starters--i recall a really great clam or mussel dish in particular. I remember having similar feeling comparing the main courses, but maybe I just got unlucky and lucky at the two respectively. I like New Rivers (and there's certainly nothing wrong with a salad, especially from them) but I love Chez Pascal.

The only problem is how hard it is to stick to the Prix Fixe.
