<content>For years my favorite restaurant in Manhattan, maybe the whole world, has been Tab Tos on East Fifth Street. I've seen some interest in it on this board, so I know many of you are familiar with it. I've had nothing but very fresh fish and yummy salads there, and somehow all the rules and the strictness of the owner/waitress made it seem even more special, even (this may sound crazy) spiritual.

However, within the past six months, they revamped their menu and, all of a sudden, they no longer carry yellowtail. When I asked the waitress why she gave me a cryptic glance and a shrug. I didn't want to push it for fear she'd kick me out (which I've seen her do to customers in other circumstances). All of the food is still of the same high quality, and I still go frequently, but the lack of yellowtail does decrease my enjoyment just a little.

Anyone care to hazard a guess (or, even better, know the inside story) about this sushi mystery? The only sushi places I've seen that don't have yellowtail are the cheapest, crummiest joints and I don't consider Tab Tos one of those.

Thanks for any light you can shed!
